What does research mean to us?

Research for Isha is a mix of academic work, personal interest, and skill development, all of which contribute to my learning and understanding of the world.

Research for Papiya is purely based on personal interest, things she is curious about and want top understand in more detail.

To both of us research encapsulates several things, depending on our experiences (independent and together as a family) and interests. Few of the things that research means to us are as follows:

Exploration and Discovery

Research is a way to explore topics we are curious about, whether that’s a hobby, a school project, or a current event. It’s about finding out more and satisfying our curiosity. Sometimes together and sometimes on our own.

School Assignments

Often, research is built on schoolwork, for instance Isha’s project on cancer in grade 8. It involved gathering information from books, articles, or online sources to support her ideas and arguments.

Critical Thinking

Our kind of research is geared to stoke conversations and encourage critical thinking skills in all who reads. We understand it as a process of evaluating different sources, figuring out what information is reliable, and forming our own opinions based on evidence.

Problem Solving

We will be figuring out in our journey whether our kind of research is a way to solve problems or answer questions. We might think of it as a method to find solutions to challenges Isha faces or me in my personal life.

Creativity

Research will surely be our creative process, where we connect ideas in new ways, come up with innovative projects, or delve into artistic expressions that require some background knowledge.
